Introducing Transpire Project

Welcome to the Transpire Project.

We are a group of parents of trans children who want to support and amplify the voices of trans and non binary people. We want to help families learn how to truly support their loved ones.

We’re looking for stories (text, art, video, etc.) about transgender and non binary experiences in their families. What was helpful? What was not helpful? Tell your story in your own words. Anonymity, if needed, is assured.

Send us a DM, email stories@transpireproject.ca, or visit our Send your story page to send in your story.

Story #1: Being female felt like a curse

We got our first story!

This one is from a youth in Southern Alberta.

I love drawing. It has never changed throughout my life. As a young child, I never liked dresses at all, even when my parents got married. I was so angry in the wedding pics. 😂 Being female felt like a curse for me because I starting to get things I didn’t ‘’agree’’ with. When I got my first period, I disliked it so much. It got me super moody, and I wore heavy sweaters to hide my breasts. Last February, I came out as a trans guy, because in any future ideas I had in mind, I was a guy. Only a guy. Not a girl—a guy.

I’m not good at saying my stories, But what can I say? Anxiety hurts.

If you’d like your story to be our second story, please contact us.
